Am I wrong for thinking velcro ties beat zip ties for desk cables? My coworker in Phoenix wouldn't let it go
Last week I was helping a buddy clean up the cable nest behind his desk in Phoenix, and I made the mistake of pulling out a bag of zip ties. His neighbor Dave, who was hanging around drinking a beer, jumped in and said zip ties were the worst thing you could do to a cable because you have to cut them every time you swap a device. I said velcro is for people who can't commit, and zip ties are like 3 cents each so who cares. He came back with some story about slicing into a $40 HDMI cord with scissors trying to free it, and honestly that part got me a little. But then he pulled out this roll of velcro that was $14 at the hardware store and acted like it was a bargain. We went back and forth for like 20 minutes while my buddy just stood there holding a power strip. So now I'm putting it to the group: are you team zip tie or team velcro, and does the price difference bother you at all?
