My printer cable turned into a tripwire at 2 AM

Stumbled out of bed to grab water in the dark and clotheslined myself on a tangle of USB and power cords behind my desk in Phoenix. The whole mess came crashing down, printer, router, phone charger, all of it. Now I use those velcro ties from the dollar store to bunch everything into one neat snake, but I still brace myself every time I walk past that corner. Anyone else got a midnight cable disaster story?

Oh lord, I did the same thing with a lamp cord and nearly took out the whole nightstand. My shins have permanent battle scars from that corner, I swear.

Ever notice how half the stuff that causes the most chaos in our homes is stuff we bought to make life easier? @jana_henderson52, that lamp cord story is exactly what I mean. I've got a robot vacuum that gets stuck on the same rug fringe every single day, and my "smart" coffee maker has a cable that wraps around the counter like a snake. It's like we pay good money to add more trip hazards and frustration to our own living spaces. What's the dumbest "convenience" item that's caused you the most grief?
