Fiber splice failure after 4 years, contractor blamed my prep work

A trunk line I spliced in 2021 went dark last Tuesday, and the contractor pointed at my cleaving as the cause. I pulled the closure apart and found the splice tray had shifted, pinching the fiber, not a prep mistake. Has anyone else had a contractor blame old work instead of owning a bad install?
