Wrote off those push-on F connectors as junk until a callback in Cicero made me eat my words
For years I refused to touch push-on connectors. I was taught they pop off and cause callbacks and I just nodded along without ever really testing it. Then I got stuck on a job in Cicero with a tight wall cavity and no room to swing a wrench, so out of pure frustration I crimped nothing and pushed one on just to finish the day. That was 4 months ago and the customer hasn't called once, so I went back and checked the signal and it was holding steady. Now I keep a handful in the van for those ugly spots where a real connector won't fit. I'm not saying I'd use them on a whole house drop but I was wrong to treat them like trash. What's the one thing you were taught to never use that actually saved your butt on a bad job?
