The day I stopped forcing flex cables and started listening to the PCB

For about 8 years I always pried sensor flex cables out with a plastic spudger, thinking that was the proper way. Then a Fuji X-T2 came in with a torn latch and I had to trace the flex directly to the board, and I noticed the connector had a tiny release tab I'd been crushing every single time. That tab was the clue, it flipped the whole thing open with zero pressure, and I realized I'd been doing it backwards on every camera before that. So here's my question for the group: do you trust the factory design over the old habits, or have you found cases where ignoring the tab actually saves the board? I'm curious if anyone else had a similar wake-up call after years of doing it one way.
