Update: the guy who told me to stop using canned air on shutters was right

Had an oldtimer named Frank at a shop in Austin tell me to stop blasting shutters with canned air. Ignored him for 6 months. Finally took apart a shutter that was acting up and found a tiny piece of debris jammed deeper than I could reach with a blower. Had to order a new curtain assembly for $45. Frank just nodded when I told him. Has anyone else had to learn this one the hard way?

Funny how life works like that. I used to be the same way - thought a good blast of air could fix anything. Took a busted fuel injector on my old rig to change my mind. Air just moves stuff around, it doesnt actually GET RID of it. That debris is still in there somewhere waiting to cause problems later. Sounds like Frank knew his stuff, and that $45 lesson was probably cheap in the long run compared to what a full replacement would cost. Bet you wont make that mistake again either.

So did @paul117 ever have Frank tell him something he wishes he'd listened to sooner? I'm curious if Frank's got a whole list of those hard lessons or if the canned air thing was just his main one.
