Vent: dropped $340 on a "mint" Rollei 35 at a flea market in San Diego and the shutter is seized
Two weeks ago I drove down to the Kobey's swap meet in San Diego and a guy had this Rollei 35 sitting on a velvet cloth with a price tag of $340. It looked clean, glass was clear, meter needle moved, so I handed over the cash without a second thought. Got it home, ran a roll of HP5 through it, and the shutter hung open on frame 4 and never closed again. Took it apart and found rust on the main spring plus a bent cocking lever, which means somebody forced it at some point. A proper CLA and parts would run me another $200 easy, so now I'm $340 in on a paperweight. Learn from me, test fire the shutter at every speed before you pay, even if the seller swears it's fine. What's the worst flea market camera you got burned on?
