Can we talk about the tent pole that snapped at 2am in Boone?

Woke up to a crack during a windy night at Grandfather Mountain and found my 3 year old pole split at the joint, so I splinted it with a cut stick and two zip ties from my repair kit and it held the rest of the trip, but now I'm wondering if I should just replace the whole pole set or keep rolling with the splint trick.
