DAE think expensive sleeping pads are overkill, or am I just cheap?

Saw a guy at REI in Boise drop $250 on a pad last month and my $40 foam one has never let me down, so is the fancy stuff really worth the price or are we all just buying hype?

What temps are you camping in though? That $40 foam gets rough below freezing.
