Finally gave in and bought a $15 camp chair repair kit
I've been patching my old Coleman chair with duct tape for like 3 years. Last weekend at Yosemite the tape gave out halfway through a rainy afternoon. Figured if it was $15 and it didn't work, I'd just buy a new chair. The kit came with actual fabric patches and adhesive that actually stuck after a 24 hour cure. Sat in it for 3 days straight with no issues. Has anyone else fixed old gear with those patch kits or am I just lucky?

Picked up one of those kits for a fishing tent that got a tear, and it held up way better than any tape I've tried. That 24 hour cure time is key, just gotta be patient with it.

Funny you mention that, I had a similar patch job on an old cooler that kept leaking. The stuff worked great but I forgot to wait the full time and ended up with a sticky mess on my hands. Still, beats buying a whole new cooler when a little patience does the trick.
