The weekend my tent turned into a swimming pool
Last Saturday I set up camp near Lake Tahoe and thought I picked a solid spot away from the creek. Woke up at 3am with water seeping through the floor of my trusty old Coleman because it poured rain for 4 hours straight. Turns out the ground tarp I used was sticking out past the tent edges, so it channeled water right underneath me. I spent the rest of the night sitting in my car eating stale trail mix, soaked and kind of impressed at how bad my setup was. Has anyone else made that tarp mistake or am I just the king of rookie errors?

Did you at least get a free swimming lesson out of it?

Haha honestly yeah kinda. I fell off my paddleboard and this older dude who was teaching a kids class nearby just swam over and gave me some pointers on how to float better. He showed me this trick where you keep your head back and let your ears go underwater, it sounds weird but it actually helps a ton. I still panic a little when I can't touch bottom but at least I don't flail around like a dying fish anymore.
