Why does nobody talk about how hot cardboard forts get in summer?

Last July we built a three-room fort in the backyard out of moving boxes from a friend's cross-town move. By noon the inside hit about 95 degrees and we had to cut window flaps every hour just to breathe. I kept telling my kids it was fine, but after three hours we all gave up and dragged it into the shade under the maple tree. Made a smaller one with just two boxes and a sheet roof, that worked way better. Has anyone else dealt with the heat problem, or do you just stick to winter builds?

Stick with winter builds because summer always turns any enclosed space into an oven, like cars, sheds, and tents.
