My old boss in Denver said to never take a counteroffer, and man was he right.

I got a better job offer last year, my current company matched it, but staying just made things super awkward for six months until I left anyway. Has anyone else had a counteroffer totally backfire?

Okay but I have to agree with anna165 here, that whole thing felt super off for half a year. The way everyone would go quiet when you two walked in, @the_felix, that was a real thing. It wasn't just in your head, the vibe was totally stiff and forced until like June.
