That trick with the seam sealer backfired on me today

My old boss swore by using aerosol spray adhesive on carpet seams before you roll them. Said it would keep the edges from curling up over time. I tried it on a job in a rental house this morning, and the glue bled through the backing on about 4 feet of the seam. Now I have to cut out that section and redo it before the tenant moves in tomorrow. Has anyone else run into this with spray adhesives on low pile carpets?

Roberts carpet adhesive works better than spray for low pile, in my experience.

Gonna push back a little here. @fisher.mason, Roberts is fine but I've had just as much bleed through on low pile with it if you lay it on heavy. Spray gives you way more control if you're not slathering it on. Sounds like OP just hit the trigger too long, not a product problem.
