Ran across a stat that made me feel ancient about meme making

I was digging through some old image files last weekend and found a folder of cat memes I made back in 2016. Out of curiosity I looked up the oldest known cat photo, turns out it's from the 1870s or so, some guy in England took it. That hit me weird, we've been doing this basically since cameras existed. I figure we've been adding dumb captions to cats for over a century now. Does anyone else ever wonder what kind of memes people were making with just daguerreotypes back then?
