Warning: my coworker said my cat meme caption was too clever and now I can't unsee it
My buddy Dev works at a print shop in Baltimore and I showed him my cat meme last Tuesday, the one with the chonky tabby and the caption about Monday meetings. He stared at it for 5 seconds and then asked me what the cat was feeling. I said it was funny and he goes "funny isn't a feeling, nobody shares a meme they can't feel." That one line wrecked me, because I had been stacking puns on top of puns and never once thought about the cat's face doing the work. So now I'm rebuilding my meme folder around one clear emotion per cat, and I need help, what's your rule for knowing a caption is doing too much?
