PSA: a line cook at a diner off I-35 in Austin told me to skip the lunch menu and order off the breakfast side
Last Thursday I stopped at this little 24 hour diner off I-35 in Austin and got to talking with the guy working the flat top. He pointed at the menu and told me the lunch plates are marked up about $3 over the breakfast stuff for basically the same food. Said a two egg plate with hash browns and toast runs $6.99 all day, but the same eggs on the lunch side go for $9.99 once 11am hits. I tried it and got the breakfast plate at 1pm with zero issues from the staff. Now I'm wondering how many spots pull this same move with their menus. Anybody else notice diners charging more for lunch plates that are almost the same food?
