Update: my Rogers Park street parking spot got claimed by a folding chair and I got a $75 ticket
So this happened on my block near Lunt and Ravenswood. I left a folding chair in my shoveled spot like everyone else, came back from the Jewel on Monday and my chair was gone and a different chair was sitting there. I moved it, parked, and woke up to a $75 ticket because the city says dibs chairs are basically trash on the street. My neighbor Sal told me he lost 3 chairs this winter alone and just gave up on saving spots. I get why the dibs thing bugs people but when you dig out for 2 hours in 8 degrees, you feel like you earned that patch of ice. Now I park 4 blocks away and walk. How does your block handle dibs without someone getting a ticket or a chair stolen?
