Dropped $65 on a soot vacuum attachment that was absolute junk, here's what happened
I got a job last week at this old brick house in Albany with a fireplace that hadn't been touched in maybe 15 seasons. I figured I'd try one of those fancy rotary brush attachments I saw online for $65 because the flue had some hard glazed creosote. Big mistake. The thing jammed up about 6 feet in and the bristles flattened out after one use, so I ended up going back to my old wire brush and rods anyway. I wasted $65 plus about 40 minutes fighting with it while the homeowner watched me from the doorway. Has anyone found a rotary attachment that actually holds up on stage 3 creosote, or should I just stop trying to fix what isn't broken?
