Pitched a heat pump at my HOA meeting in Phoenix last month and got laughed out of the room
I brought a $4,200 quote and a 10 year savings sheet to the meeting on March 12 and one guy yelled that we live in a desert so AC is all we need. Three weeks later the building's shared electric bill hit $9,800 for one month and suddenly two board members want my installer's number. Anyone actually gotten an HOA to approve a shared heat pump setup, or am I wasting my time?
One month of high bills is not proof of anything. Summer in Phoenix always spikes and one bad month could just be a heat wave plus everyone cranking their AC at once. Two board members asking for a number is not the same as the board approving a shared system. Shared anything in an HOA is a nightmare, who pays, who owns it, what happens when it breaks. A $4,200 quote for one unit also does not tell you what a shared setup would actually cost across the whole building. You might be right about the math but you are getting way ahead of yourself calling this a win.
