Solar panel output dropped 40% after one hailstorm, inverter logs showed it
We had a nasty storm pass through Austin back in March. Nothing huge, just marble sized hail for about 15 minutes. I didn't think much of it until I pulled the monthly production report from my Solis inverter. April numbers were way off, like 40% less than the same time last year. Climbed up there with a ladder and found three panels with hairline cracks you can barely see from the ground. Insurance covered it but the adjuster said most people never check after storms. Took me two weeks to notice because the app didn't flag anything weird. Who else actually reviews their daily output data, or do you just trust the system runs fine?
