The 100 companies stat hit me like a brick, and I can't stop thinking about it
I read last week that just 100 companies are behind about 71% of global emissions, and that number came from a 2017 report by the Carbon Majors project. I always pictured climate change as me and 8 billion other people all chipping in equally, but that is clearly not the math. So why do we keep getting told to sort our recycling and swap our lightbulbs while these 100 outfits keep right on drilling? What would actually move that needle, lawsuits, carbon taxes, or something else I am not seeing?
