I finally figured out why the new guys keep trimming their buoyancy wrong on shallow air jobs
Watched a kid on a 25 foot job in the harbor last month crank his wing full before he even hit the bottom, then fight it the whole dive. Thing is, at that depth your suit and tank already do most of the work, so he was dumping air the entire time and bouncing off the mud. I've seen this 4 or 5 times now with guys coming out of deep cert classes where you learn to add gas right away. Try a shallow dive with almost nothing in the wing and see where you actually sit, it'll surprise you. Any of you run into this with newer divers, and how do you get them to trust it?
