Overheard a supply house guy say check water pressure first, saved me 3 hours today
I was at Ferguson picking up fittings this morning and some older contractor was telling the counter guy about a call where a restaurant's booster pump was screaming for no reason. He said he always checks static pressure before touching anything, even if the ticket says pump failure. That stuck with me, so I swung by a job in Nashville where a cafe had weak flow on the third floor. Turned out the pressure reducing valve was set at 110 psi and the expansion tank was waterlogged, not the pump at all. I swapped the tank and adjusted the valve in about 40 minutes, which was way faster than pulling the pump apart. Has anyone else started doing pressure checks first, or am I late to this obvious step?
