A retired flat finisher made me question my whole approach today
Was pouring a small garage slab in Boise this morning and this old guy, must be 70, walked up and watched me for a bit. He asked why I was using a magnesium float so early and I told him it works for the mix I run. He just laughed and said his crew never touched a float until the bleed water was gone, then they used a steel trowel for 3 passes minimum. Made me rethink some of the shortcuts I picked up on quick jobs. Anyone else ever had a seasoned pro casually drop advice that shook your routine?

Heard my buddy say the same thing after an old timer watched him pour a driveway and it totally changed his finish game.
