Old timer told me to wet cure for 10 days, I did 3 and paid for it on a garage slab in Tucson
Guy I subbed for back in April, must be pushing 70, watched me screed a garage pour and said "son, that slab will crack before fall if you don't keep it wet past the first week." I figured he was stuck in the old days, we had good mix, temps were mild, so I did the usual 3 days of fogging and left it. Come August, hairline spider cracks showed up right down the middle where the control joints were. Not structural, but the homeowner noticed under the afternoon light and I had to grind and patch it. He charged me nothing, just shook his head at a job site last month. My question: how many of you actually wet cure the full 7 to 10 days on flatwork, or is 3 days normal for residential and that guy's just got old school standards?
