Why does nobody talk about the 'free' energy device seminar that cost me $300?
I went to a local meetup about magnetic generators last month, paid the entry fee, and got a box of parts that were basically old fan motors and magnets. The whole thing was a scam to sell overpriced junk to people who want off the grid. Has anyone else run into these 'invention' pitches that just take your money?

Ugh, my cousin fell for one of those solar panel kits.

Maybe it's not a total scam though. Some of those kits are actually decent if you know what you're buying. People get ripped off when they expect too much for a low price. Did he just buy a small setup for a shed or something?

Used to think the same way until my neighbor got one. He bought a kit for his garage roof that promised to run a fridge and some lights. The panels looked fine but the wiring and connectors were total junk, started overheating after a week. Seeing his mess made me get what lilyanderson is saying. Sometimes the problem isn't the panels but all the cheap parts they bundle with them that can ruin everything.
