Dollar store battery candles vs. the real wax ones, surprised myself
I bought a pack of those flickering LED tea lights for 1.25 at the dollar store last fall for my windowsill display, and after 6 months they still work fine, zero melted wax mess on my painted sill. Then I tried a real beeswax taper in the same spot, and the smell was lovely but it dripped all over the shelf and I had to scrub for an hour. Has anyone else found a good middle ground for that cozy glow without the cleanup grief?

Respectfully disagree, the real wax thing is half the appeal for me. I've got a few candle holders with those little drip trays and I actually like the look of the wax pooling and hardening around the base, it's like the candle is leaving its own little fingerprint. Plus, cheap LED candles have that faint plastic smell when they warm up, at least the ones I've tried, and it kinda kills the whole cozy vibe. I'll take the hour of scrubbing over that any day, though I do use a putty knife and hot water which makes it way easier than it sounds.
