My antique enamel pot cracked on the stove last night
It was a hand-me-down from my grandmother, and I was just simmering soup on low when I heard this loud snap. Has anyone actually had luck repairing old enamel or is it just trash now?

Trash it, enamel never sticks again once heat cracks it.

Oh come on, people act like enamel is made of glass. I've had a few old pots chip and crack over the years and they still worked fine for simmering stuff. That loud snap probably means the enamel let go in one spot but the metal underneath is still solid. You could keep using it for soups and stews no problem, just don't scrub the cracked area hard.
