Vent: everyone says to line dry your clothes, but a hygrometer reading changed my mind
I hung a cheap $9 hygrometer in my laundry room out of curiosity and found it sitting at 68 percent humidity for two days straight after one load of towels dried indoors. Everyone in this community pushes line drying as the cozy, old-fashioned answer, but that much damp air in a small room is a mold problem waiting to happen, and I'd rather not trade soft sheets for a musty closet. I still hang shirts and delicates outside on a sunny day, but towels and jeans go in the dryer now. Has anyone else checked their indoor humidity in winter, and what number do you call too high?
