Split screen is not a couch co-op game and I'm tired of pretending it is
I keep seeing lists of "best couch co-op" that are full of split screen shooters where two people sit in the same room and barely look at each other. That is not the same thing. Split screen just means two screens crammed onto one TV, and most of those games were built for online play first, so the two player stuff got tacked on later. I tried playing one of those with my nephew in my living room in Salem last weekend and we quit after 20 minutes because neither of us could see what was going on. A real couch game makes you talk, yell, and work together on one shared screen, like Overcooked or a good 2D fighter. So why do people keep calling split screen the same thing as co-op, and what's your go to game that actually forces two people to talk?
