Spent 4 hours on a 20 minute cable fix because my shelf gap was 1/4 inch too tight
I decided to hide my console cables behind a floating shelf in my closet setup, and the gap between the shelf and the wall was 1/4 inch too narrow for any of my connectors to pass through. What should have been a 20 minute job turned into 4 hours of unscrewing brackets, drilling new pilot holes, and re-mounting the shelf 2 inches higher in my apartment in Portland. My advice: measure the connector head, not just the cable, and add a quarter inch of slack to your plan. Anyone else get burned by a tiny gap they didn't think to check first?
