Chose a 500-word flash fic over my novel chapter, zero regrets
Our prompts group had a challenge last Tuesday: either submit a 500-word flash piece or a 1,500-word chapter. I've been stuck on my novel for weeks, so I picked the flash fic just to get something done. Wrote it in one sitting at my kitchen table, about a barista who finds a lost dog in Seattle. It got 23 upvotes in our thread, which is way more than my chapter drafts ever got. The win is that I finally finished something, even if it's small. Anyone else find that picking the shorter prompt helps you break a slump? Curious if that works for you or if you push through the long stuff instead.
