Hit 100,000 words in my draft and felt nothing, anyone else?
I crossed 100,000 words on my fantasy novel draft last Tuesday, which felt like a huge milestone I'd been chasing for 2 years. But instead of celebrating, I just stared at the screen for a minute and then closed the file to go make dinner. Has anyone else hit a big writing number and felt weirdly flat about it, or was that just me? What did you do to get past that?

Hitting that number feels like it should mean more than it does. The grind of getting there is so long that by the time you arrive, the moment just passes you by. That flat feeling is pretty normal, happens to a lot of writers I know. Best thing I did was stop looking at word counts for a week and just focus on the next scene that excited me. The milestone comes back to feel real later, once you've had some distance from it.
