The library's public wifi had no password, and that scared me more than the fines I owe
I stopped by the central branch in Columbus last Tuesday to print some forms, and my laptop auto-connected to their open network. No login page, no terms, just a straight unsecured signal. There were maybe 40 people in the main reading room, all of us chatting away on the same pipe. I sat there for 10 minutes thinking about how easy it would be for someone to sniff packet data or set up a fake hotspot with the same name. I have a VPN on my computer, but my phone was doing updates on that network too. Does your local library still run open wifi, or do they at least force you through a splash page these days?
