Neighbor swore my dog would ignore squirrels if I carried an umbrella, and the squirrel won
My neighbor Dale, who walks his corgi at 5:45 every morning, promised me that opening a black umbrella would confuse squirrels long enough for my beagle to walk past. First try on the trail by Miller Park, the squirrel just sat on a fence post staring at us like we were idiots. Second try, my dog dragged me three feet into a bush while the umbrella flipped inside out. Now Dale waves at me from across the street and I pretend I don't see him. Has anyone gotten an umbrella trick to work, or is Dale just messing with me?
