It took me 6 weeks to figure out my coworking space's internet was the problem, not my laptop.

I kept blaming my slow connection on my old MacBook and almost bought a new one for $1,300. Turned out the coworking cafe's router was throttling everyone after 2 PM. Has anyone else wasted cash on gear when the real fix was just switching spots?

Oh hell yeah, I've seen that happen way more than people realize. Sometimes the "upgrade everything" impulse just makes you ignore the actual problem sitting right in front of you.

The whole "throw money at everything except the real issue" thing reminds me of people who keep buying new phones because their old one is slow, but never bother to clear out the 15,000 screenshots or close the background apps (which is almost always the actual culprit). It's like trying to fix a leaky faucet by buying a new coffee maker and calling it a day. Or when a car gets a weird noise and the owner just buys a louder stereo instead of checking the belts (I've literally seen a guy do this). Sometimes the cheapest fix is just paying attention to what's already there.
