The glass cutting board from Dollar Tree shattered while I was slicing a tomato

I picked up one of those glass cutting boards from Dollar Tree about two months ago, thinking it was a steal. Yesterday afternoon I was dicing a tomato for my lunch and the thing just cracked right down the middle, no warning at all. A piece of glass flew up and nicked my thumb, nothing serious but enough to bleed. I threw the whole thing in the trash and dug out my old plastic board from the back of the cabinet. Now I'm wondering if those glass boards are all junk or if I just got a bad one. Has anyone else had a glass cutting board break on them like this?

Wait, it cut you? That's crazy dangerous for a Dollar Tree find.

Dollar Tree stuff is hit or miss for sure but their glassware is actually pretty solid most of the time. I've bought plenty of plates and bowls from there that have held up fine for years. The problem is you gotta check every single piece before you buy because sometimes they chip at the factory and you won't see it until you run your finger over the rim. I always run my thumb around the edge now before I even put it in my cart. If it catches at all I put it back because that's exactly how you end up with a cut later.
