That high-end dredge pump seal I was sure was a gimmick
Spent $400 on a ceramic seal kit from a rep who popped by our site in Corpus Christi last spring. Three months later, we've had zero leaks compared to the old rubber ones that blew out every 6 weeks. Has anyone else had good luck with ceramic seals on sandy jobs, or did I just get lucky?

Read a thread on a mining forum where a guy in Arizona swore by ceramic seals for their slurry pumps. Said they held up way better than anything else when the sand content was high. Sounds like your $400 was probably money well spent, not a gimmick at all.

Ceramic seals held up way better" - that's exactly the kind of real world proof I needed. I was skeptical too, but you've totally changed my mind on this.
