Found a 1920s photo album in an old desk at a thrift shop last Tuesday
I was digging through a beat up roll top desk at the Goodwill over on Elm Street and found a leather photo album stuffed in a hidden drawer. It had about 40 black and white photos from the 1920s, all of the same family at a lake house in Maine. Has anyone else ever found something like this with personal photos, and what did you do with them?

The 1920s are a bit too far back for most families still living, so I'd probably keep the album myself. Those old photos of strangers at a lake house are interesting to look at, but I doubt anyone is actively searching for them. I found a similar batch from the 1940s once, and after posting online for a few months with zero response, I just added them to my own collection. Thrift stores are full of things people abandoned, so it's not really a mystery to solve.

Did you ever try reaching out to local historical societies or genealogy groups before just keeping them? Those groups can sometimes find connections even when random internet posts don't get any bites. Just curious if you explored that route or if it felt like too much effort for strangers in photos.
