Swapped my linesman pliers for a ratcheting cable cutter last week

Used to just twist and yank 4/0 copper with my old Kleins. Took me 20 minutes per panel. Now I'm done in 5 and my hands don't ache the next day. Anyone else switch to a ratcheting cutter for heavy gauge?

Honestly, I hear you on the hand fatigue part but I think ratcheting cutters are overkill for most jobs. Just grab a decent lineman's and a pair of safety glasses, saves you a hundred bucks.

Fair point about the ratcheting cutters being overkill, I've been doing this work for years and never needed them. You're right that a solid pair of lineman's will handle 95% of what you run into on a job site. But I'd throw in a good pair of dykes too for tight spots, just don't cheap out on the safety glasses.
