That one comment about my panel labeling totally changed my workflow

Last month a senior guy named Jim from Local 46 looked at my panel schedule and said "man, you write like a doctor's prescription." Took me a minute but he was right, my labels were all over the place. I switched to using a P-Touch labeler with 12mm tape and clear plastic covers over each breaker. Now I actually label every circuit before I even pull wire instead of doing it at the end. Anyone else get roasted for something small that made a huge difference in how you work?

Read a study once about how electricians who label as they go cut their troubleshooting time almost in half. It makes sense when you think about it but nobody ever tells you that at the start. That P-Touch idea is gold, I might have to steal that one. Jim from Local 46 sounds like a real one for pointing it out like that.

Kinda like when my old foreman caught me using a dulled out Kleins to strip wire. He just looked at me and goes "you know those have a stripper hole right, or is that just decorative?" I was so used to using the cutting edge that I never even looked at the tool right. Now I keep a pair of dedicated strippers in my pouch and actually use the right tool for the job. Its wild how one little dig can totally reset how you think about something you do every single day.
