I always thought my family's lasagna was just okay, but my cousin's friend raved about it and now I get it.

Maybe the cousin's friend has terrible taste in everything else (like, they put ketchup on eggs), which makes their lasagna love extra confusing. You finally respect the family recipe but now you're side-eyeing all their other opinions.

My mom's potato salad was something I avoided for years, always too mayo-heavy for my taste. Then at a family picnic, my buddy Dave tried it and said it was the best he'd ever had. Dave's a guy who burns toast, so his praise made me do a double take. It took his outside view to make me realize I'd been dumb about it this whole time. Now I load up my plate with that salad and act like I was always a fan. Your lasagna story is the same deal, where a fresh pair of eyes shows you what was there all along.

My aunt's meatloaf was a family joke for years, we all called it the dry brick. Then my buddy from work tried it and asked for the recipe. This guy eats gas station sushi, so like julia92 said, it makes you question everything. Now I'm the one defending the meatloaf at holidays, telling my cousins they have no taste. I guess it took an outsider with questionable life choices to show me the truth.
