My grandma's biscuit recipe actually came from a 1950s Gold Medal flour bag

I was going through her old recipe box in St. Louis and found the original clipping. It says 'Gold Medal's Prize Biscuits' right on it, which I guess she just copied onto a card. I mean, I always thought it was some secret family thing passed down for generations. Has anyone else found out a beloved recipe has a totally different origin story?

My great aunt's famous lemon bars were actually from the back of a cornstarch box. She had it written in her fancy handwriting on an index card and everything. I felt kinda cheated when I found out, but honestly the recipe is still perfect. Makes you wonder how many "family secrets" started as marketing.

Lol so many "heirloom" recipes are just old ads.
