Update: Tired of how mold repair has changed over the years

Back when I was new, we repaired molds with our hands and some simple clay. It took time but you felt proud fixing something. Now the shop just orders new parts from a catalog. I saw a perfect mold get scrapped because the system said it was faster. That old method taught us patience and skill. Today it's all about speed and not about craft. Sometimes I wonder if the new guys even learn how to truly repair anything.

My friend watched them scrap a flawless mold last week.

Saw a similar thing at the old plant. They dumped a brand new injection mold because the coolant lines were off by a millimeter. It looked perfect to everyone else, but the engineer said it would fail under pressure. Just tossed it in the scrap bin like it was nothing.
