Remember that proper maps actually show real geography, not someone's doodles. Even a small pond would appear with the standard blue water symbol, while a puddle simply wouldn't be charted. That's the key difference between a wild guess and actual map hunting.

Ha, my version of map hunting is just getting wildly lost and calling it an adventure. I once spent an hour looking for a lake that turned out to be a puddle someone drew on with pen. Your find sounds way better.
