The leaky faucet that wasted 3 months of my life
I finally fixed my kitchen faucet drip last week after putting it off since June. It was just a worn out rubber washer inside the handle, cost me $1.29 at the hardware store maybe 2 blocks away. But instead of just looking up how to do it, I kept buying those $8 spray sealants and tape wraps that never worked. My sink was losing a steady drip every 8 seconds, which my friend Matt calculated could be like 30 gallons a month. When I actually took the handle apart, the job took maybe 15 minutes with just a screwdriver and some pliers. I felt pretty dumb but at least my water bill is back to normal. Has anyone else spent way too much time avoiding an easy fix?

Right, like I haven't spent three months staring at a clogged garbage disposal before finally unjamming it with a butter knife in thirty seconds. Really makes you feel like a genius.

Butter knives aren't great for disposals, the blades can snap off.
