My buddy laughed at me for keeping a 2004 Palm Pilot
Last week at the hardware store break room, my coworker Dave saw me pulling out my old Palm Tungsten T3 to check a delivery date. He actually laughed and asked why I don't just use my phone. I told him because this thing still works perfectly and I've had it since high school. He said phones do everything it does and more. But here's the thing - he's right about features, but wrong about focus. When I'm using that Palm, I can't get distracted by notifications or scroll through social media. It does exactly one job and it does it well. I still write my weekly inventory notes on it and sync them to my desktop. Has anyone else held onto an old PDA or organizer that still earns its spot in your bag?

And that's exactly why I still keep my old Palm Vx in my glovebox for logging mileage. Leo's right about old tech that just works, but it goes deeper than that. These old devices actually train you to be more deliberate with your time. Like when I pull out my Palm to jot down a thought, I'm not tempted to check emails or browse Reddit for 20 minutes. The battery life is insane too, I think I charged mine maybe twice last month. Phones are great but they're also designed to keep you hooked, and sometimes a boring single-purpose tool is exactly what you need to get stuff done.
