PSA: That 'vintage' Palm Pilot I bought on eBay was a total dud
Paid $45 for one that claimed to be in 'working condition' but the screen was totally dead. Anyone else get burned buying old PDAs off resale sites?

That $45 for a dead screen is rough. I paid $60 for a "tested and working" Handspring Visor a few years back and the hinge cracked the day I got it. The seller just said it must have happened in the mail and wouldn't refund me. I learned my lesson too - those "as is" listings are almost always broken junk. Now I make sure the seller has a good return policy before I hit buy. It's a real shame because there's some neat old tech out there, but the risk is just too high.

Man that 'working condition' claim got me too. I used to think ebay was pretty reliable for old tech but after getting a "mint" Newton that had a dead battery I totally changed my mind. Now I only buy from sellers who post actual video of the screen working.
