Picked a beat up copy of Rumours over a mint one for twice the price

I was at a flea market last Saturday and saw two copies of Fleetwood Mac's Rumours. One was near mint for $25, the other had a scratched cover and some visible marks for $10. I bought the cheap one figuring I could clean it up. Spent about an hour with my spin cleaner and a microfiber cloth and it plays almost perfectly, just a few pops on track 3. The seller even threw in a free 45 of Dreams because I bought two other records from him. Has anyone else taken a gamble on a rougher copy and gotten lucky or did you regret it?

I mean a $15 difference isn't that wild to be gambling on a scratched up record with visible marks lol. You got lucky this time but that hour of cleaning plus the pops on track 3 wouldn't be worth it to me, especially if that's your favorite song on the album. For $25 you could have just had a clean copy right out of the sleeve and been listening in 5 minutes instead of fussing with a spin cleaner all afternoon. The free 45 is a nice bonus but let's be real, how many people are actually pulling out a 7 inch of Dreams when they could just stream it in 2 seconds.

yeah i get what ur saying but i read somewhere that vinyl actually sounds warmer than digital even with a few pops, and theres like a whole culture around the hunt and cleaning process. plus that free 45 of Dreams is a classic, i bet some people dig it for the nostalgia factor even if they can stream it. for me the extra hour cleaning is part of the fun, kinda like restoring something old. but i feel u on track 3 being annoying if u love that song, i had the same thing with a used copy of Rumours where the first track on side B skips bad and it drives me nuts.
